A coach is there to facilitate and bring to life a group of like-minded athletes as well as build a support network of trainers, therapists, nutritionists and specialists for you. Knowing you have the right people for the right purpose is crucial to your success. Having a group to train with or to help you and others achieve goals, is also great motivation.
Motivation
It’s going to get tough out there sometimes, so it’s nice to know that you have someone in your corner to get you out that door and through that training or race day.
Progression
One doesn’t just get off the couch and run a marathon, you need a plan to progress slowly and logically to avoid injury, burnout and other setbacks
Guidance
A coach is there to take you through your athletic endeavours, in a responsible way. They are also there to offer feedback on your goals, training and racing.
Goal Setting
Putting goals down on paper can be easy but it helps to know how to reach your goals. There are dream goals but there should also be big goals and smaller goals along the way. What are they – and where do they fit in?
Specific
You are unique! Therefore, your training plan should be as well. No two individuals are the same and that’s why you need a plan that is specific to your goals, lifestyle and work/life balance.
Accountability
Knowing that you have to report back to someone is a big motivator and sometimes all you need to get out the door.
